published: 30.03.2021

On March 26, Jan De Nul has laid the keel for its offshore wind jack-up vessel Voltaire at the Cosco Shipping yard in Nantong, China.

The construction of the Voltaire started in May last year with a steel cutting ceremony at the Cosco shipyard. The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2022. Its first implementation will be on Dogger Bank’s 3.6 GW offshore wind project in the UK to install the 12 MW Haliade-X turbines

As previously reported, StoGda participated in the design of the Voltaire. StoGda was responsible for Structural Basic Design. The scope consist of the complete set of structural drawings of the hull, jackhouses, legs, legwells and spudcans, including the rules calculations. Additionally we executed some non-structural Basic Design documentation for this vessel.
