Keel laying for Modern Hybrid Ro-Ro Passenger Ferry

Ceremony of keel laying for Modern Hybrid Ro-Ro Passenger Ferry (project no. NB70) was held in Crist Shipyard on 19th July 2017.
The representatives of the Owner (Vegagerðin – The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration), Crist Shipyard, DNV-GL and StoGda laid together the plaque and coins below the keel of the Ro-Ro Passenger Ferry designed by StoGda.
The ferry NB70 is a modern hybrid unit with diesel electric drive with battery support. The ferry will operate the road between Landeyjahöfn and Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland. A ship is ready for transport 5 trucks and 100 cars as well as up to 540 passengers.
StoGda is responsible for delivery complete design, including all disciplines for:
– Class Documentation
– Model tests
– Simulation for navigation in port Vestmannaeyjar
– Workshop Documentation
– Supervising during construction
– As Built Drawings
StoGda is also responsible for designing the ro-ro equipment installed onboard, i.e. bow visor, bow door, stern door, tiltable ramps for Mezzanine Deck, bow and aft flush deck flaps.
The ferry will be handed to the Owner on June 2018.
